All together to gulangyu island

Hakka tulou

Today we went to visit the most famous complex of tulou (earth buildings) built by the Hakka people. It was a long trip, but worth it! Such a marvelous place, immersed in step-fields valleys… and in a beautiful sunny day!

Wind, waves and sand

That’s the gorgeous bay where daddy went swimming. This time we came back when the sun was still up, but it was too windy to stay long, to suntan or to swim 🙁
Anyway I enjoyed myself immensely: I found an abalone shell, tried to eat some sand :P, was sitting on a rock… but what I especially loved was walking on the beach, at each step opening wide my toes to feel the sand with my feet. 😀
How beautiful is the sea?!

Enjoying the early summer

It’s really warm and sunny, so I can finally wear all my light clothes 😉
Ain’t I cute with that little hat? 😛
Daddy even managed to go swimming; he said the water was still cold but the cleansing experience of a spring swimming in this gorgeous bay was priceless.

Back to the island

We went back to the island, where the weather is much nicer (but the food is worse) and everything is more natural. This time we went by ourselves, with daddy driving the whole trip. As said before, I really love travelling! 😀
Mommy said a very funny and sad sentence at the same time: “This place is still like the original China, which is sadly disappearing.. but I actually find myself hoping it develops faster!!”

With my grandparents and at the restaurant

I like this Dongbei restaurant, it has a lot of funny objects attached around, old communist posters and a very nice old man working there, who always comes to greet me and smile to me. Also I like the food there 🙂 I love eating the dumplings’ skin and I also experienced for the first time eating fish (a big steamed perch)! 😛

In the garden of Mr Wang

On a beautiful sunny day, we met a lovely couple of very young old people, mr and mrs Wang. They live next to the sea, every day go swimming, take care of their garden and keep super healthy. Well done!!
The last two photos were taken by mr Wang himself, they’re so good! Thank you! 🙂

From ShanDong to DongShan

Our long trip across China brought us from the cold ShanDong to the hot DongShan, two very different and special places.
DongShan is a very natural and beautiful island, still not developed but with so much work already under way.
We visited two bays, the sea was so calm and clear, like a beautiful blue silk sheet. When they brought me on the beach, just in front of the waves, I laughed so much and suddenly remembered the days in Sicily. 🙂
A pity it was still too cold to swim, I am really looking forward to enter the sea! 😀
We slept in a small villa on the seaside and I was happy (and with great appetite!) the whole time.
Our friends Weiwei and Lishan were so good and played a lot with me.

At the botanic garden

I went to see the botanic garden together with grandpa and grandma… it was HUGE and very beautiful, an incredible landscape full of so many different trees.
In the end we arrived to a place, next to a Buddhist female monastery, which was full of cats! They welcomed us with their meows and I playfully screamed at them. 😀
Such a wonderful and peaceful place!

Gulangyu island

Gulangyu is a very cute little island next to Xiamen, full of classical villas and empty of cars: no vehicles are allowed, not even bicycles… so when my mommy and daddy went visiting they came back with their legs totally broken from too much walk!
